This 12.6 metre Naiad closed cell foam RHIB was built specifically for Hydrographic Survey and to double as a backup pilot boat for the Port of Tauranga. Launched in May 1998, it was then commissioned on July 30, 1998. This Naiad was the first of a new class of high speed pilot workboats, the frame spacings are 400mm, which is typical of Naiad's heavy duty construction. Powered by twin Volvo TAMD 73WJs and Hamilton 291 Jets, it has a top speed of around 35 knots.
