Naiad 15.0 Akarana

Naiad Pilot boats are built for safe and efficient movement of Pilots to and from ships entering harbours. The Ports of Auckland purchased a Naiad 15 metre to expedite these transfers with good safety and excellent handling for crew and Pilots alike.
Naiad consults intensely with the purchaser and users of these RIBs prior to designing a boat to cover their particular needs. For this Pilot boat it was decided that foam fendering was the required material as Auckland is an extremely busy port and the boat would be in full time demand.

The requirement was for a cruising speed of 25 knots plus which this boat achieved with twin Caterpillar C12 diesels. Named AKARANA after a previous pilot boat this Naiad has excellent sea keeping abilities giving a soft ride in the short Auckland chop. The Pilot house gives exceptionally good all round visibility while the onboard electronics are leading edge.
