Three 8.5m Patrol Naiad's for Australian Federal Police

The Australian Federal Police have recently taken delivery of three new Naiad 8.5m's, built by Kirby Marine, for use in the Christmas and Coral Islands. These craft will operate in the remote Indian Ocean and as such needed to be rugged, trailerable, highly manoeuvrable and capable of offshore operation.

The 8.5m Naiad's had to be built to the National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV) which was subjected to DNV classification to meet with Australian Maritime Safety Authority approval to operate in Australian regional territories. The end result is a very tough, highly capable set of vessels, with redundancy systems in place to cope with failures if they occur.
