Naiad 9.5 Rescue for Wooli VMR
Naiad have a proud history of supplying rescue boats for both the New Zealand Coastguard and Australia Volunteer Marine Rescue for many years.
Wooli VMR's Naiad 9.5m Rescue is one more of these specially designed vessels. Powered by twin Suzuki four-stroke 250hp outboards, top speed is 43.5 knots and cruise is an impressive 30 knots.
There is seating for five persons in the cabin: Helm, Navigator, Communications and a double bench seat. There is plenty of storage for all of the necessary rescue equipment plus the forward cabin provides space for bulk storage of large items.
The roof sports a solar panel for additional battery charging, which forms part of the tropical roof that runs centrally down the cabin roof.
This vessel uses Naiad's double stepped hull, but the keel has been modified to run consistently along the whole length. This allows the trailer to use keel rollers without being damaged by the steps in the hull.
The Naiad handles extremely well, the steering is responsive, and it provides a very soft ride. In head seas the bow cuts through the waves and rides dry. Running downwind the boat feels great, with the bow riding high and clear of the waves. The Naiad runs fast in these conditions, comfortably maintaining 30 to 35 knots, even running across seas the boat inspires confidence – at speeds of around 25 knots there is minimal roll/heel.
NSW Marine Rescue volunteers report they love the boat and are extremely happy with it.
